Millions of people enjoy sharing their homes and their lives with pets, even those who are allergic to animals. According to Humane Society of the United States, there are approximately 77.5 million dogs and 93.6 million cats owned as pets. This means there are many people with their fury friends out there experiencing symptoms like Red, itchy eyes, Stuffy or runny nose, Coughing, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. Thankfully, there are many small steps that can be are effective to minimize pet allergy symptoms while enjoying company of your beloved pets:
• Creating allergy free zone in your home (preferably allergic person’s bedroom) and restrict your pet’s access to this area.
• User HEPA air cleaner and avoid dust catching furnishing in your home. These HEPA filters can be a big help in removing unwanted allergenic particles from the air.
• Train your pets to be off of upholstered furniture.
• Wash couch covers, pillow and curtains regularly.
• Use micro-filter bag in floor vacuum’s to reduce the amount of pet allergen present in carpeting that leaks back into the room air.
• Brush brush the pet regularly—outside, not indoors.
• Remove carpeting and rugs, which can trap pet dander and other allergens.
• Wash your pets and their beds on weekly basis.
